Miles Driven: 700
Parks Visited: 0
700 miles is a long drive in the car by yourself. Wait, I wasn't really by myself. Chickie was with me. For those who don't know, Chickie, my brother's, bedraggled, 35-year-old, stuffed chick, travels the world with family members. Truly Chickie has been around the world and now she'll have been at GenCon!
Anyway, tomorrow I arrive in Indianapolis, where I’ll be for five nights. While I’m at GenCon, I won’t be posting From the Road blogs, but I will be posting two This Week’s Roadtrip!s. Tomorrow night, I’ll feature both the latest updates to Roadtrip! (made over the past two months) and what I’ll be doing this year at the convention. On Sunday, after the close of the show, I’ll be posting the results from my playtesting and the top three things I learned over the crazy four days.
Don’t worry though, as soon as I leave Indy, you can count on me starting up the From the Road journal again. So, Monday night you’ll likely get a bleary-eyed post about the hundreds of miles I covered between Indy and Fort Platte.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy tonight’s ramblings. And really, they are ramblings. Since I did not visit any destinations, I thought I’d list the random thoughts I had while viewing middle America.
-I miss 80mph speed limits.
-Where do I have to go to get a decent mocha?! I’m not that picky; I drink Starbucks.
-Hi Jared and Kiwi! I got to see my friend in Albert Lea today.
-I wonder how far I am away from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin? The former home of Gary Gygax, Dungeons & Dragons and the original GenCon in 1968? [Turns out I was 327miles away]
-[expletive removed] trucks! This is the third time you forced me to miss an exit! Several times, only in Iowa mind you, I was so boxed in for several miles that I either couldn’t see the darn exit signs or I couldn’t get to the exit in time.
-Really, you named the gas station Kum&Go?
-There’s a town named Kickapoo. hehehe
-Waterloo, IA! I loved Carol (and The Price of Salt). Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara were awesome.
-I didn’t know the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library is near Davenport.
-Hey look, I’m in Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois. Hey, look there’s the Missouri again, the Cedar River (again, again, again…), the Mississippi, the Illinois.
-Stations use W’s now!
-Why is Chickie still staring at me…
Remember that during GenCon I’ll be doing a lot of tweeting, instagramming and facebooking!
Until Monday from Fort Platte….
